Welcome to room 136...
We are so excited to begin the 2017 -18 school year. First grade is such an exciting time where your child will grow as an individual and a learner. In First Grade we believe personalized learning will allow your child to take ownership of their learning and grow as a first grader. You may have noticed that our classroom looks a little bit different from a traditional classroom environment. This is due to our belief in personalized learning and allowing students to be advocates for their own learning. We want students to see learning as a lifelong experience that isn't confined to the four walls of the classroom or limited to being led by their teachers. We have a generative curriculum and believe in a constructivist philosophy where we listen to the interests of students to guide our learning experiences.
Some of our beliefs are…

I am so excited to be working with your kiddos this year! I have been with the Greendale School District for 13 years but this is my third year teaching 1st grade! I graduated from Alverno College with a degree in Elementary Education and later completed my Masters at Concordia University. On a personal note, my husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have two children, Ryan and Shannen, both who are in college. I am a bit of an empty-nester but I also have a dog named Reggie who keeps me busy. I also try to find time to enjoy my hobbies of reading, swimming and spending time with my family. I look forward to a great year!
